What's the deal...

Hi. There haven't been any postings to this group in nearly a year. I'm just saying hi. I'm class of '01 (and '04).

Comments:
- Football team is doing well. We definitely have a chance for the Rose Bowl. Somebody needs to beat Wisconsin.

- I haven't found any place that can match the ambiance of sangria at Dominick's on a nice day.

Is anything still in A2? When I attended there was SchoolKids Records, the original Borders (ah, when the people who worked at a Borders could answer your literature questions), Drake's, WoolWorth's, Steve's Ice Cream, Le Dog, the U club.

Let's see... Border's is of course still around but I don't know if it's the "original". I think all of the stores you mentioned are gone except Le Dog and the U Club.

Most of those places closed probably between 97-2000 while I was there. I'm sure you'll be delighted to hear that they have all been replaced by megalithic franchises: 2 starbucks, 3-4 Jimmy John's, Subway, and a Ben & Jerry's. Incidentally I have been looking around the UC Berkeley campus and guess what they have - Subway, Starbucks, and Ben & Jerry's.

The classics, however, remain; The Brown Jug and Blimpy Burger are still as popular as ever.
